WOODSTOCK, GEORGIA, TIME LINE (revised July, 2010)

1921Woodstock Presbyterian Church is organized.
1930s2/3 of Georgia’s banks fail, none in Cherokee County.
1930/1940sPoultry industry thrives in Woodstock and all of Cherokee County.
1939Woodstock School burns.
1940The E. T. Booth House is built.
Woodstock Garden Club is organized. The members were directly responsible for the construction of the Woodstock Community House which was completed in 1961.
1947The Dixie Inn Restaurant opens on South Main Street near its intersection with Highway 92.
1950Woodstock’s theater burns.
1952Woodstock’s first water system is installed.
1961Morgan’s Hardware opens a Woodstock location.
Woodstock Lions Club is chartered.
1962Highway 92 is improved, widened, and paved.
Woodstock’s first subdivision is developed: Cherokee Forest, on Highway 5 south at the Cobb County line.
The last cotton warehouse adjacent to the rail line is demolished. The demolition of these warehouses dramatically changed the face of downtown.
Woodstock Medical Clinic opens in August with Dr. Evan Boddy as the new doctor in town.
